At the age of 41, Peter Couche was a highly successful stockbroker and father of three living in London when he suffered a catastrophic brain-stem stroke. The stroke occurred 18 years ago and he has since lived with “Locked-In syndrome” – Peter’s brain is as sharp and active as ever but he has virtually no physical abilities.
Since his stroke, Peter has amazed everyone with his patience, persistence and positive attitude. Peter has established the Peter Couche Foundation in association with the University of Adelaide to raise funds to support the Stem Cell for Stroke research of the Robinson Institute. This research provides hope for brain repair treatment for stroke damaged brains using adult stem cells.
The Peter Couche Foundation raised over $23,000 for the Robinson Institute’s Stroke Research Program at a cocktail event held at the National Wine Centre on Friday 25th February 2010. Thank you to all who supported the event!!
